Rick James - Super Freak (1981)

 August 8, 1981 - 40 Years Ago Today: Rick James debuted at No. 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with his single, "Super Freak (Part I)." The single was James' 6th chart entry on the Hot 100 and peaked at No. 16 on October 24, 1981. It was included as a medley of three songs on the Billboard Disco Top 80 Chart billed as "Give It To Me Baby/Super Freak/Ghetto Life" and spent three weeks at No. 1 and was certified Platinum. James was sentenced to five years in prison in 1994 for assaults on two women but was released in August 1996. He died of a heart attack on August 6, 2004, at the age of 56.
